Most of the students I work with today apply to 8-15 schools, some costing more than a house (crazy, right?!). The college experience is a coveted experience that so many high schoolers look forward to, but don’t have a full understanding of the steps from high school senior to college student.
Teens are quick to think “I’ll apply and then be accepted, and then I’ll go to the school”, but it just isn’t that simple. They don’t account for the lengthiness of applications, what they want in a school, multiple schools they’ll apply to, college tours, SAT and ACT testing and prep, scholarship applications, and their daily life! Sadly, students can’t put a hold on high school, jobs, extracurriculars, friends, school events, and everything else going on.
