That was me 10 years ago.
“Christy, you’re in TROUBLE.”
Those were the words of my older cousin as we chatted about his son heading off to college at the end of August.
It was at that moment, I knew something needed to change. We had almost no college savings and no real plan for how we’d get our crew through school — all six (6!) of them.

A Small Group, Live Cohort Format. We’ll get to know each other well over the course of the workshop’s 48+ hours. Your teen will hear other seniors share their own topic ideas and receive both inspiration and motivation around their own. 8 Live Calls. This is NOT one of those programs that send teens to fill out workbooks on their own. We’ll be meeting live in 8 sessions over 2 days. Before a student can use AI effectively (if at all), they need to know what a standout essay looks, sounds and feels like AND be clear on how to express their own unique voice. As good as the robots are for some things, college application essays isn’t one of them.
The issue with AI is that it bases its writing on the ‘average’ of what it finds browsing the internet, resulting in common (not uncommon), vanilla (no mint chocolate chip here), and typical (i.e., boring) essays.
Plus, colleges use AI, developed by a Princeton student, to spot essays written by AI. And THOSE essays are usually the first to receive a ‘no thank you’ rejection letter.

If it’s really strong, there will be some “magic” hidden in there that we will pull out, shine up, and get into a new and improved version. One that will make them never want to go back to the original.
